Pharmacy Plus was founded in 1994 with the principal objective of developing the role of the pharmacist to meet the challenges of patient care in the changing NHS. The company expanded to 21 branches by 2001, and pioneered numerous services and models including clinical pharmacy services, drug information, domiciliary visits, central distribution etc.
As well as the use of innovative technology and process driven protocols, we have pioneered advance models of practice which move away from traditional retail style pharmacy. The Pharmacy Plus central distribution model is the largest and only operation of its kind in the UK established for the provision of Care Home and Domiciliary services. The Pharmacy Plus IT system, is a fully integrated solution for managing and delivering every part of the dispensing process in the most efficient manner. From receiving prescriptions to dispensing them in batches, it ensures that human resources are utilised in the most cost effective manner and without compromising quality.
Our innovation in Care Homes has gone beyond that of any other pharmacy organisation. In an effort to improve patient care and support Care staff we have developed the first every barcode validation system which promises to reduce errors at the point of administration. To further ease the challenges faced by nurses and carers, we have also developed the worlds first Motorised Medication Trolley.
