CQC Outcome

By now, no doubt you are fully aware of the new CQC registration changes incorporating the new Outcomes framework which comes into force on 1st October 2010. We believe the changes will provide a good opportunity for care providers to demonstrate their service delivery. They will also give flexibility as they focus on outcomes. However, we do feel care homes may require support to ensure the necessary processes are in place to demonstrate the outcomes, especially that of Outcome 9 – Medicines Management.

Our Proposal for Supporting Homes with Outcome 9

Over the last few months we have carefully considered how we could most effectively support each care home on their Outcome measures. After lengthy deliberation amongst all our pharmacists we have concluded that we could best achieve this by creating a set of guidelines which explain clearly what the care home needs to do and how you need to use Pharmacy Plus services to get the best results. In other words, we “sign post” a suggested method to an identifiable outcome.

This guidance has been produced onto easy to use posters, which have been sent to all our Homes.

To enable homes to meet the guidelines we have identified in the posters, we have also updated and improved our Online Service.
