Improve drug round efficiency

• PCS helps improve the efficiency of the Drug Round by providing a list of residents to prepare for and the location of each drug required. As medicines are administered, residents are removed from the list. This helps to keep a track of which residents are still due and ensures that residents are not missed in a drug round.

Ease staff workload

• The system removes the need for laborious paper based recording (including the MAR Chart). This presents significant time saving opportunities as well as easing the burden of such tasks.
• The PCS barcode scanner also simplfies the otherwise time consuming task of booking in stock.

• PCS monitors stock levels and alerts staff when stock is running low so medication can be replenished well in advance of the medicine running out.
• By ensuring the correct stock levels the PCS can help ensure residents do not go without their medication. Equally the system can make sure drugs are not ordered unnecessarily. PCS calculates the stock usage and requirements for each drug. Whether ordering the monthly drugs or an individual item, it can be done accurately and electronically at the press of a button. Returning stock is just as simple.

• The transfer of data between pharmacy and Care Home is seamless with PCS. This ensures that everyone is working off the latest instructions and that new drugs, dose changes and stoppages are implemented immediately in the interest of resident care.
